  1. Elephant Trunk Hill

    Elephant Trunk Hill

    Elephant Trunk Hill is one of the main landmarks in Guilin. Located in Xiangshan Park near the Taohua River and Li River, it has been a famous tourist attraction ever since the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). The hill looks like a huge elephant taking a drink from the water of the river. There are many beautiful scenes around the hill, but also some ancient buildings, like the Puxian Pagoda, Sarira Dagoba, and Yunfeng Temple.

    Reed Flute Cave

    Located about five kilometers northwest of Guilin, the Reed Flute Cave is a fantastic cave and is a must for your travel itinerary. The cave got its name from the reeds growing outside it, with which people make flutes. Inside this water-eroded cave are a magical world of stalactites, stone pillars, and rock formations. Best Time To Visit Guilin

When organizing your Guilin tour, one questions you're likely to ask yourself is “When is the best time to go to Guilin?” April through to October would seem like the best time to visit Guilin due to the comfortable weather and how charming the scenery looks at that time of year. However, depending on your budget, tolerance for large crowds, what your interests are another time of year may suit you better.

Typical Costs in Guilin

The cost of living and private guided tours in Guilin are reasonably priced. A basic lunch would only cost around 40 Yen, but if you try somewhere really local, you could get this even cheaper. Bus fares range from 1-2 Yen and taxis are a little more but very inexpensive. Obviously, it does depends on your budget, but there is something for everyone to enjoy here.

Know Before Visiting Guilin

Some basic travel tips for every tourist to know before visiting Guilin are that Guilin is not famous for its shopping experiences so if it’s your only stop in China then grab something from the tourist shops at attractions you visit, if not, save your money for one of the bigger cities. You cannot drive in China without a Chinese driving license; International licenses carry no legal status in the country. Please check any visa requirements you need.

Weather in Guilin

Guilin weather is mild with four distinctive seasons, sunny and vigorous springs, rainy and foggy summers, cool but pleasant autumns, windy and drizzling winters. In Guilin, the climate in January is the coldest with an average temperature of around 8 C (46 F), while July is the warmest with a temperature of 28 C (82 F). Summer here is the rainy season but mainly in May and June, the best time to travel here is from April to October.
