Cappadocia tours from Istanbul are very popular for tourists as they will usually do an overnight stay to include a Balloon Ride and the underground city of Kaymakli. The most unusual caves are found around the Goreme Valley with the fantastic rock Churches and chimney stacks. Views of the orange cliffs created from volcanic eruptions, wind and water erosion over many millennia are spectacular.
The orchards and vineyards are carved into the stone landscape and have many hermit hideouts concealed by the churches which date back to the Byzantine age. The rock of the plateau and the pinnacles of soft volcanic rock were efficiently worked with primitive tools so the residents could make safe, secure homes for themselves relatively quickly. You could call them "cavemen," though their civilisation was far too advanced for this term to really apply. Christians who fled Roman, and later Arabic, persecution came to this area and found refuge and safety in the rock caves of Cappadocia.
There are hundreds of caves in the valley to see on Cappadocia private tours, but we know of no tourists who get to see them all (YET), but the highlights are on most if not all the tours available. The most appealing and popular cave communities and ancient sites are in the Goreme Valley and Urgup area.

Cappadocia is a beautiful region that we loved visiting on our Turkey itinerary. You need at least 2 days to see the main highlights of Cappadocia, allowing for 2 mornings to take the balloon ride in case there are cancellations for weather. Staying for longer will allow you to get a lot more out of Cappadocia.
How safe is it ? Statistically, hot air ballooning is extremely safe. A commercial passenger flight with a hot air balloon operator is viewed by the Civil Aviation Authority as similar to a commercial passenger flight with an airline. Although you won't be strapped into the basket, it's tall enough to come up to the rib cage of a person of average height. You're not going to fall out. When the balloon first begins to take off, you may feel a twinge of anxiety as the ground gets smaller and smaller.
Cappadocia is a great place for solo female travel, whether you have never travelled alone before, or you've travelled to 20 different countries by yourself. It should be noted, however, that Cappadocia does not have an “established” backpacking trail like say, Southeast Asia.
Cappadocia has the biggest number of tourists, it's not too 'touristy'. ', and it's most conveniently located for any activities in Cappadocia. It also has a very big number of excellent Cave hotels to choose from.
Balloons usually take off early in the morning about 5:00 to 5:30am, depending on the season because the wind conditions are best around sunrise. Tour companies will pick you up at your hotel, so there's no need to worry about getting to the take-off site while you're half asleep.
While famous for its sunrise hot-air balloon rides, Cappadocia is also known for its enchanting cave dwellings. All across the region, particularly throughout Göreme National Park, you'll find former homes carved into rock faces communities lived in these caves right up until 1952.
The signature dish of Cappadocia, is mantı. Small pasta packets, usually stuffed with meat or cheese and served with a tomato and or garlic sauce. Cappadocia is one of the great routes, where you can taste the rich cuisine of central Anatolia. Whether it is the legendary Testi kebab, Tandoori dried beans, or other region-special cuisines, dining in Cappadocia would not disappoint.
Turkish cuisine incorporates a huge range of vegetable dishes known as zeytinyagli yemegi foods cooked in olive oil. The majority are vegetable-based and include green beans, artichokes and of course, eggplants. One of the tastiest eggplant offerings is sasuka.
