This is why you come to Alausi. The Devil’s Nose train is a very stimulating ride through treacherous yet beautiful terrain where you will see some awesome landscapes and appreciate the ingenuity of the engineers who designed the route and feel the agony of those who laboured here, it’s a bittersweet experience if you think of it. There is a guide on the train car who will narrate for you the route and it’s features as well as give a detailed account of the historical significance of this train ride. Our guide was very professional and narrated in English.

For starters, we loved the little town of Alausi and we were excited about the train ride. What an engineering feat this was to get the zig-zag train track up the side of a mountain. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed the amazing views along the way, and the historical commentary by the English speaking guide assigned to our carriage. To top it off, we were greeted by a folk dance troop who gave us a lovely performance of traditional dancing and invited us to join in.
