This depends on your holiday preference as you may just wish to laze on a beach for three weeks or take a Bali private tours! Always research your holiday before you go, there are many religious holidays which you may want to see but get there before, as even the airports close! The cost for my husband and me was around 120$ a day, which I think is very reasonable. We ate in some delicious restaurants and had a few Bali private tour very reasonably priced. I did some shopping for souvenirs and a few new clothes. The taxis are also good but make sure they put their meter on !! All in all, I think we did very well on that amount each day.
The Balinese people are very religious, so please bear this in mind when entering a sacred site or even sometimes a bar or restaurant it is necessary to dress appropriately and cover your legs and shoulders. The wifi is hit and miss, and you may be charged for it wherever you visit. Be careful of the local drink Arak as you may get a Bali Belly !! local tour guides are cheap and plenty to choose from! !
The weather in Bali is best visited in the dry season, so April, May and September are a good time to holiday, plus you will find it is less crowded then. A lot of tourists now holiday at the Christmas season, but you do get quite a bit of rainfall during this time so may not be ideal if you want to visit the heritage religious sites or take a trekking, private tour.
