Overview

When your cruise ship arrives in Safaga Port, our Reflections representative will be waiting to meet and assist you. You will be driven in an airconditioned vehicle so that you can enjoy a relaxing and comfortable journey to Luxor. Halfway through your drive from Safaga Port, you will have the opportunity to stop for refreshments and a bathroom break.

We will continue driving to Luxor and to the West Bank where you will explore the majestic necropolis of the Valley of the Kings. Here you will learn about the Pharaohs and their ancient beliefs about the afterlife at this fantastic site where 63 tombs were discovered.

Your guided tour will continue to theTemple of Queen Hatshepsut who was the 1st Queen in history. She played an essential role in ancient Egyptian history and ruled for approximately 21 years. Queen Hatshepsut was also the first Queen to send a diplomatic expedition to the land of Punt (Somalia). During your tour, you will discover that she left many monuments as her legacy.

Next on your itinerary will be the two Colossi of Memnon where legend has it that after the famous War of Troy, people would hear a sad voice coming from the statues. However: in later years, it was discovered that this phenomenon was the result of friction between air and tiny holes from inside the figures. Once the sculptures were restored, the voices disappeared.

After lunch, where you will be able to try some traditional Egyptian cuisine you will take a motor-boat and cross the Nile to the East Bank. From here you will visit the magical Karnak Temples, the most massive religious structure in the world and which covers an area of about 60 acres. The Temples can be viewed as a history book, explaining the history of Egypt from the Middle Kingdom to the Ptolemaic period. The Temples at Karnak were dedicated to the God Amon-re, his consort Mut and their son Khonsu.

After this fantastic day tour, you will be transferred back to Safaga Port.
