Overview

Our guide will pick you up from your downtown hotel lobby at 8:30 am and you will be taken directly in a private car to visit the Mutianyu Great Wall. Enjoy hiking along the wall and explore the tensely distributed Watchtowers while taking in the break-taking natural scenery.

You will enjoy lunch at a nice local restaurant before visiting the royal park of the Summer Palace. Here you will stroll along the beautiful long corridor and listen to your guide’s live narration of the royal history in beautiful stunning landscapes.

On the second day of your tour, you will visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Stroll around the largest central city square, walk into the best-preserved imperial palace complex, and follow your guide to explore the Imperial history. Next, you will travel to Jingshan Park which is located behind the Forbidden City and which is the best position to get a panoramic view of the Forbidden City.

Have lunch at a nice local restaurant, and move on to explore another sight not to miss when touring Beijing; the Temple of Heaven. Follow your guide to see the Altar, Echo Wall, and spectacular Imperial Vault, admire the most representative existing masterpiece of China’s ancient sacrificial buildings, and discover the belief and worship of Chinese emperors.

On your final day, you will start by visiting the Lama Temple, which is the imperial lamasery built in the Qing Dynasty, you will see the world’s largest wooden sculpture of Buddha - a 26-meter high sculpture of Sakyamuni, which is the great sage of the West. Just one street away from the Lama Temple stands the great sage of the East, the world-renowned Chinese philosopher called Confucius. Follow your guide to visit these two temples and learn the great influence on Chinese people throughout history.

Then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and proceed on to have a leisurely afternoon sightseeing. Take a rickshaw through the 300-year old hutongs, stop at several places on the way for your guide’s presentation and a photo opportunity, stroll around the ancient imperial garden of Beihai Park, and discover the real Beijing culture and local lifestyle.

My husband and I have travelled extensively and usually try to see the important tourist attractions by ourselves. Friends had to us to use a guided tour when we came to Beijing, which we did and are really glad that we did as this city is so busy and chaotic. We really learned a lot from our guide and the amount of places you get to see on this tour are amazing. Definitely get a guide if you are visiting this city, it really is worth it.
