Overview

No matter what time of year it is, a journey to Landmannalaugar is always amazing. You see multicoloured rhyolite mountains known for dramatic lighting and array of colours, including yellow, pink, fluorescent green and purple, brown, black and white.

The area offers several shorter hikes in this stunning scenery, giving you a spectacular view of everything Landmannalaugar has to offer.

You will also be stunned by old lava fields, inactive explosion craters, waterfalls and the unforgettable hot pool, so don’t forget your bathing suits and towel.

On a clear day, Mt. Hekla will show herself to you. She is the most active volcano in Iceland and since the time of settlement, around 1000 years ago, Mt. Hekla has erupted numerous times blanketing Iceland with thick layers of ash and pumice.

It is no wonder that early settlers in Iceland believed Mt. Hekla to be the gateway to hell! In the past few decades Mt. Hekla has erupted roughly every ten years, the last one in the year 2000, so she is slightly overdue!

We took the super jeep to Landmannalaugar which was an experience we very much liked. As the F roads were closed we had to take the super jeep. The advantage was that we both could enjoy the amazing ride towards Landmannalaugar.Once we arrived we hiked around Landmannalaugar and enjoyed bathing in the river there. This was the most beautifull day of our trip in Iceland!

This company is extremely professional and their customer service is faultless. I researched many different tour companies before finally choosing this tour. Our tour guide was very personable and had a soothing voice, which is important if you are going to listen to someone talk. You could tell she was excited to share information and gave us interesting facts and tips. I definitely recommend this tour company for anyone, I had an excellent time.

This tour is a must if you want to have excellent tour. we originally had low expectations but by the end of it, my wife and I both agreed it was one of our best decisions in the city. Our tour guide outdid himself; he was knowledgeable and had very good English. I could not believe how much I learned about tour, Will recommend.
