Off to Rome on Our 25 Year Anniversary Thanks to Our Kids

rome tours

For our wedding anniversary, married for 25 years, my wife and I were given a long weekend to Rome as a present, from our children. After three months it was time to go our flight, transfers, hotel and a full daily Rome Tours were included. Well, we could not imagine anything about this trip so we would not wait to see what happened on the booked tour of Rome private tours our kids got for us.

We arrived at our hotel, well a cheap small hotel, very simple, but the location was great. Close to the train station and close to the Colosseum which was what was on our bucket list. We undoubtedly wanted to see that on our Rome Italy tours. As seen the hotel was very standard we had a small restaurant opposite, which had delicious pizzas so the food was good, we wouldn’t starve to death hehe!.

When we finished our pizza, the weather was still pleasant in the evening, despite it being the month of March, we decide to walk around a bit. I looked up Tour Italy Rome on google to get some ideas on where to stroll around.  We pass some buildings and a lot of traffic in the street, so we return to our hotel and looking forward to our tour the next day.

The next morning we had to find the office for one of our Italy tours Rome meeting point at the Vatican. But because we were afraid of getting lost we decided to take a taxi. We arrived too early and thought oh dear hope they had not forgotten us. We decided to get a real Italian espresso, and honestly, in Italy, you get the best espresso. A few minutes later than the specified time our tour guide was there so we thought now we could start let's see what was on offer on our Trips to Rome Italy.

To get to the St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum, you first pass Saint Peter square, which is the most impressive square in the world. Our host told us a hundred and one stories we thought at the end of the day we thought everything will be forgotten, but that is really not true on Rome private tours. She told so much history that it fascinates us that you have to take it in. She also has a map full of pictures, to gives us more of the history and it was one of the best private tours of Rome that we did.

Now she took us inside the Basilica, fortunately, our kids were clever enough to book us skip the line tickets so that we could quickly enter because there were incredibly long lines but the private day tours Rome that was booked for us were super. Once inside your amazed by what you see and discover. And again everything is told in detail by our host that it was really too much to record. What we did know was that Michelangelo and Bernini richly decorated it and by that I mean richly, not a spot left. The paintings and mosaics are done in wonderful detail. The bronze doors, bronze floors, etc are spectacular.

We walked on and arrive at the Sistine Chapel. The private Rome Italy tours we did had great tour guides and ours said that this is the room where the cardinals meet after the death or resignation of a pope to appoint the next pope, I have clearly withheld this, because the walls, ceilings are also so richly decorated that you keep looking. And some paintings are clearly recognisable. Our walking trip continues to the famous tapestries of Raphael`s rooms as was said a young artist who worked for the Cardinals and popes, real gems to admire. I understood that he died very young and worked together with Michelangelo.

After all this all having seen and walked it was time for lunch,  a delicious real Italian dish. We got some energy again and went further through the Vatican museum. Here you could spend a whole day to see so much and to admire both modern artworks and works of art from antiquity. Fortunately, we took some pictures to enjoy afterwards at home and to remember our private tour Italy Rome trip.

Now we came to the tour that I was so looking forward to, the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. These are close to each other because we were getting tired by now but we were excited about this Tour guide Rome Italy. Here you can see many remands of ancient Rome because here there used to be the most important buildings. And then there is the mighty Colosseum, a huge stadium where they used to kill wild animals and people in a gruesome manner. Now it is a big tourist attraction but as our private tour guide told more about the horror what did happen here you do get the shivers. It is impressive and not just because of the size of the Colosseum.
