Overview

Chiang Mai is a cultural and historical city in the Northern Thailand, at one time the capital of the ancient Lanna kingdom. Located on a plain at an elevation of 316 m, surrounded by mountains and lush countryside, this lovely city is much greener and quieter than Bangkok, called as"Rose of the North".

Chiang Mai then slowly grew in cultural, trading, and economic importance to its current status as the unofficial capital of Northern Thailand, second in importance only to Bangkok.

We meet up at your hotel lobby (in Chiang Mai area), arrive at Maekhampong to explore the nature of the city.  We then have lunch at Maekhampong.  We go around to have a look at the village near Maekhampong.

When the tour ends, we will get ready to go back to Chiangmai city, where the journey started.

Loved the whole tour. Our guide was always very helpful and very friendly. Very interesting, quiet and typical village. The best smell of coffee I've ever tasted in my life. Homemade food was very good. I loved coming back one day.

A wonderful village in the hills about an hour and a half drive from Chiang Mai. You have to go to appreciate the stunning forest that this village is set in. You will not be disappointed.

Mae Kampong was everything we hoped it would be. It was a small village up in the mountains where lovely traditional wooden houses were lining the street.

We had an interesting tour of the village followed by a walk up through the waterfalls. Very quiet and relaxing with places to stop for coffee along the way.

The village is approximately 40 mins away from downtown Chiangmai. It's a small village where local residents still live their life like old time. It seems like you turn back your time to mid-80s or early 90s. You can find restaurants selling local northern style food everywhere there but also you can easily find nice coffee & bakery shops as well.

Perfect chillax place! Mountains, waterfalls. Good coffee and cake. If that’s what you are after this is the place to be.Sit at the edge of the cafe overlooking mountain views, drinking coffee with blueberry pie. Just peaceful.

This is the second time we visited this place. The village in the misty valley not far from Chiang Mai downtown. The village amidst the evergreen mountains, surprisingly survived the urbanization. The village that remains in style, houses in a conservative fashion, and looks fabulous despite waves after waves of tourists.

Located in the mountains Northeast of Chiang Mai, Mae Kam Pong is a lovely little town along a winding creek. Great way to spend an afternoon or there are homestays if you want to take a break from civilization.
