Travel Tips for Puerto Plata
Anytime from the month of May to mid-June is the best time to visit Puerto Plato. These are the months after peak season, and prices are cheaper for accommodation, activities and sightseeing tours. December through to April is the busiest time to visit and when the weather is fantastic. If you are not interested in lying on the beach and do not mind rain, then July to November is great for doing activities and private tours.
The prices for tourists in Puerto Plato are cheaper than such places like Punta Cana. Depending on the time of the year, you can get excellent all inclusive deals in the luxury resorts here. Even the sightseeing tours and adventure tours are much cheaper and better value for money. If you are not going all inclusive, the price for a meal for 2 for a 3-course meal will cost on average US$30. Accommodation starts from US$28 a room.
The best travel tip for Puerto Plato is to book early especially if going during peak season. The tap water is drinkable, it is advised to only drink bottled water and use tap water for the likes of brushing your teeth. Be aware of your surroundings in crowded areas and never carry more money than needed when out. To walk alone at night is not advised nor should you venture to the beach at not unless with an organized group.
The weather in Puerto Plato is warm all year round, however, there is rain at some stage every month. The hottest month is on average July with temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius. The coldest months are normally December and January, but it is still warm with temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius on average. The wettest month is December with November a close second.
