Overview

First, we stop on a small hilltop called Zuran from where Napoleon planned the battle and had a 360-degree view of the whole area.

From there we continue to the place called the Old Post with an exhibition of the uniforms, guns and artefacts from the Austerlitz Battle. Nowadays there is a nice rustic restaurant where you can refresh.

From there we continue to the town of Austerlitz (in Czech Slavkov ) visiting the local chateau where Napoleon celebrated his victory and slept after the battle.

Then we drive to Cairn Of Peace, situated on top of the Prace Hill with a nice view of the area. An exhibition called The Battle of Three Emperors explains all the details of the battle.

The Battlefield tour our family undertook was one of the most enjoyable experiences we have ever had in our three trips to Europe. As travelers from Australia this was a life long dream - to tour the Napoleonic battlefield of Austerlitz. this tour made that dream come true - the guide made the battlefield come alive. She has a particular gift for explaining the topography - a real plus for battlefield nerds. She puts her heart into the tour, tirelessly explaining key elements of the campaign and its effects

We were guided around the Austerlitz battlefield and I enjoyed it very much. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and its history, and very attentive to the needs of guests. The battlefield is still a rural area, so it is more or less as it was in 1805. The village and chateau of Austerlitz are very picturesque and there are several very good museums. I highly recommend visiting Austerlitz.

For my son's high school graduation he wanted to go to the Austerlitz battlefield as he is very interested in history and especially Napoleon. Our guide picked us up from the hotel and we spent all day with her. Her knowledge of the battlefield and the surrounding area was amazing. My son said it was the highlight of our travels through Europe.
