Dão Tour with Food & Wine Tastings including Lunch from Porto
Product code: 2339 We begin our tour in Porto and we drive to the South East towards the Dão region. This region produces elegant wines with soothing aromas, and the Touriga Nacional (red) and Encruzado (white) are the wine varieties that best personify the Dão.
Our first stop will be in Viseu. Here we will take a short walk to see some historical attractions and then stop to taste the famous local sweets.
The second stop will be at a Wine Estate owned by the same family for at least four generations. This Quinta is located in the peculiar “terroir” of Oliveira de Barreiros village, from where we can see the rustic landscape of Serra da Estrela. Here you will visit the estate and taste the Dão wine.
You then cruise down a road with a vineyard on both side in direction of Nelas. It is time to recover energy and for this we enter one of the most prestigious restaurants in Nelas where a beautiful lunch awaits us, accompanied by the local wine.
After lunch it is time to discover the so-called "Novo Dão". We will visit a very peculiar and modern wine cellar, the result of a bold and incomparable work, where wines of excellence are made that we will taste.
Our day would not be complete without sampling one of the most famous delicacies in the Dão region - the Serra da Estrela Cheese. We will visit a cheese producer, get to understand the whole process of creating this gastronomic wonder and then taste it.
Then we return to Porto.
