When we first heard Richie's south-east England accent we were a bit surprised. But he was one of the best tour guides we have had on a one day tour like this (as well as being a great driver when we got to the narrow bends in the road). Richie had a very engaging mix of Irish history, his own stories and live music to keep us company all day long (without overwhelming us with anyone strand of that mix for too long :).We made a list of places en route to which we wanted to return: the lovely little village of Enniskerry, the tranquil setting plus tasty food at the Glencree peace and reconciliation center, the quaint village of Avoca with its Handweavers shop, the Old Mountain Road with its lovely views of Lough Bray and Lough Tay (aka Guinness Lake, with Luggala, the ancestral Guinness home and contemporary retreat for rock musicians), and the bracing walk in the forest above the monastery ruins at Glendalough.

A very well organized tour through the stunningly beautiful views and colours of the Wicklow mountains and the magical atmospheres of Glendalough. What made, however, the tour absolutely unforgettable was the presence of our guide, EOIN, who was able to inform and entertain for the whole day a very mixed group of 16 different nationalities. While expertly driving through narrow mountain roads, he gave us a wealth of information and juicy anecdotes which were invaluable to enrich the enjoyment of the brief experience of places charged with history and natural beauty. He was also able to captivate the attention and interest of my 10 and 13-year-old children, who conversed with him throughout the day (making good use of their current knowledge of the English language) and enjoyed every minute of it. I rarely go on organized tours, but this was well worth doing and I would strongly recommend it.

A smooth ride, a funny and good driver, with wonderful sights that will remain unforgettable. Unfortunately, due to the weather we were not able to visit Glencree nor the ‘P.S., I Love you’ Bridge, however, Richie our driver took us to the Powerscourt Gardens which were magnificent! Totally would recommend!!

Eoin our bus driver was a great driver but his knowledge, wit and humour were outstanding. He kept us entertained and instilled a deep meaning of Irish history of the people and landmarks. It was great to hear his knowledge of plants, animals and landscapes. Fantastic day out and highly recommended.

The tour was well worth it as the scenery is breathtaking but what made the tour a 10-star trip was our tour guide Eon (grayline tours) He made every person on the tour feel special. He nonstop shared stories of the history and jokes and everyone felt like family when the tour ended. I would take any tour with him as he is exceptional and this being said after 7 days of different tours!

Eoin provided a great tour experience for my family. He kept everyone on the bus engaged, was extremely knowledgeable about all the sights, and even took photos for us. He even took us on a little-known trail to explore some old home ruins where my wife discovered her namesake's ancestors. Eoin helped make my family's Ireland vacation a wonderful experience!

I was BEYOND delighted with this tour. Eoin really exceeded my expectations. He took us on a walking tour at Glendalough. He made us origami celtic crosses. He knew SO much about edible plants and even did some foraging. He was good natured and a fountain of information. Clearly, he knew Wicklow well and loved showing it to us. Today, the 10th of August, my wife and I went on Richie’s coach for a great tour. Not only cause of the great views of the mountains and laughs, but also for the guide (Richie) who was super! He doesn’t only tells you what you see. He gives you also a lesson in history! Thanks for a great day!

We went on the day trip to Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains on Wednesday and had a fantastic day. We got picked up on time from our hotel The Ballsbridge and was greeted warmly by our driver Richie. Richie was really friendly and made the day informative but fun. Beautiful scenery, we visited the PS I Love you bridge from the film and saw where they filmed Vikings the tv series. We then had time to spend in Glendalough, approx. 2 hours then time in Avoca. The trip was approx. 8 hours. Highly recommended if you have time.

Overall: Amazing experience with lots of awesome views and great info from the tour guide. 5 Stars!Weather: It was a bit chilly. The rain was on and off, which was not a huge deal if you have a light raincoat, however, it was not great for photos as the camera would get wet. Also, the lake and mountains were foggy but still very beautiful. The great thing about rainy weather rad that there were not a lot of tourists at Glendalough, which was a huge plus side as most Dublin tourists are very inconsiderate.Tour Guide: Eoin Pierce (pronounced kind of like Owen) was a fantastic guide! He was super friendly and his jokes were so funny. He made everyone feel welcome and even walked around with us at Glendalough lakes. Tour: The views were spectacular, however, we could not see the Wicklow mountains well because of the fog. The Guinness lake was amazing and we could see it in the distance. The monastery and Glendalough lakes were beautiful and the tour guide was knowledgeable. I wish we had another hour at Glendalough and tour of Guinness lake. It was a bit too short, but fantastic.

Eoin, the driver/guide, made this trip an unforgettable experience. Eoin was born in Wicklow, so he knows the area as much as one can. He was funny and informative, and an excellent driver too. Talking all the time while driving during the narrow Wicklow National Park roads is a kind of a feat. He kept everyone’s attention all the time. Not an easy task, considering that there were people from 16 different nationalities from all over the world. He guided us in all stops, including the 2-hour stop in Glendalough. The Wicklow mountains are nice, the Glendalough even nicer. The first stop is at the Glencree Center for Peace and Reconciliation. We got about 30 minutes for a coffee break, to walk around (outside) the buildings and to visit the nearby German WWI+WWII cemetery. Driving through the bog was a unique experience for us. We could connect it to our visit to the Archeological Museum in Dublin (btw, I highly recommend a visit to the Archeological museum). The “PS I love you bridge” is overrated. There is nothing special about this middle-of-the-nowhere bridge. It goes without saying that I haven’t seen the movie. If you want to see a bridge that stands out a search for “Calogero bridge”. The view to the Guinness lake is lovely. No wonder why this area has been chosen as filming location for Braveheart (the movie), Vikings (the series) and so on. The 2-hour stop in Glendalough was the peak of the trip. Nothing exciting about the archaeological site, the lower lake is a typical one, the upper lake is a must see. The whole setting, however, is superb. There are trails of all kinds around. I wished we could stay more than 2 hours in order to be able to visit more of the valley. The last stop was Avoca. Avoca is a village in a picturesque valley. We did not get to see Avoca; the 1-hour stop is only for lunch. Fitzgerald's pub is less than impressive. The food is average, the venue is less than average. There are absolutely no vegetarian meal options (a green salad is not a meal, no matter how big it is). We would prefer a pub overlooking the river, but perhaps there is none in Avoca. The return trip was quite/relaxing. Some nice Irish music accompanied us on the bus. We asked Eoin to include Johnny Logan songs and so he did. It was really a day to remember and the places are really worth visiting.

An amazing day full of breathtaking views and in the company of Eoin the best guide you could ever wish for! He is super funny and kind and knows a lot about Irish history. A day I won't forget!

The trip started with the theme from "Rocky" an introduction by Eoin, the Guide/Driver, and from there, none stop information, upbeat, and beautiful.

This was our second time to Wicklow and although we remembered some of the sights, the trip was well worth it. The driver/guide (Eoin) provided humorous and informative commentary for most of the trip and made the day truly enjoyable. We will be going back again next year with other family members and will definitely book this tour with Eion again. He is super!!!

My wife and I are on our third bus tour this week, and this one was our favourite. The scenery was beautiful and the locations were very cool to check out. But, those aren't the reason it was our favourite. EOIN P. made our trip so fun and enjoyable! Our other guides were great, but Eoin really went above and beyond to entertain us with extensive knowledge of the area, history, lore, hilarious banter and all while also driving the bus! We travelled with our 5-year-old with Eoin and it was one of the happiest and joyful rides of our lives. Eoin was very informative at the same time he made it so much fun. My little daughter was excited throughout the 8-hour trip all thanks to Eoin. The tour in itself was very good with stops at 4 major attractions. The Irish lunch at Avoca is must have. It was very nice of Eoin to give us a free tour of the Glendalough.

The trip was unforgettable. Very well organized, the driver Patrick was friendly and he cared for the whole group. I accidentally missed my original, different tour and found this one by doing a quick search for anything open the morning of. Thankfully I did this. The views were amazing and the pictures turned out beautiful. This tour definitely shows you the beauty of Ireland. Eoin was PHENOMENAL!! I almost hate to give this such a positive review because I think the experience is nearly ruined by the crowds...but it really is beautiful and I do hope the people engaged in Irish tourism make a lot of money off all us tourists - and it encourages them to preserve this stunning countryside.

On 9 September 2018, we had a great day out with our bus driver and guide Eoin. He told us all kinds of things about daily life, history and nature in Ireland.A perfectly organized programme (stops at Glencree cemetery, PS I love you bridge, Guinness Lake, a 2 hour stop in Glendalough where we could explore the beautiful nature, a lunch stop in Avoca). We definitely recommend this day tour, as Eoin would say "Happy Days"!

Wat een fijne ervaring! De tijd die we spendeerden op de bus, vloog voorbij door de interessante, fascinerende en grappige verhalen van de gids Dave. De chauffeur Eddie loodste ons vlotjes met de bus door de Wicklow Mountains. We stopten aan een brugje aan het Guinness Lake en kregen daar de tijd om foto's te maken en even rond te wandelen. Wat later stopten we aan Glandalough en wandelden we naar de 2 meren. Wauw, wat een uitzicht! De dag sloten we af met een lekkere en gezellige lunch. Echt een aanrader!

After a long night at the Pub and very hungover we took a long ride through the fog up to the mountains. Eion was our guide and did a great job of entertaining us. Multiple stops and amazing photo opportunities of the beautiful Irish countryside. An easy trip that educational and stress-free.

One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. This peaceful, beautiful, historical place is one for the eyes. The ride to this place was captivating. So much to see & so little time, was 1 of the most discussed among the group. That might be better explained as a place you don't want to leave.

Had a fun tour with Eoin through Wicklow national park. The walk was nice and Eoin had plenty to tell and was very funny as well! Nice if you want a more relaxed day, not much hiking involved.

We really enjoyed this tour because of our engaging guide, Trevor, and driver, Christos. Trevor was very funny, and he effectively engaged us between stops for beautiful scenery. Christos had to navigate narrow roads around cyclists, whom Trevor named MAMILs--middle-aged men in Lycra! The tour provided several opportunities for both hiking and picture-taking. While this is not a selling point for most people, but for any bird-watchers: we saw grey wagtails, pied wagtails, robins, mallards, great tit, and blue tit at Glendalough, a few unknown birds of prey at Guinness Lake, and about 10 red kites at Avoca. We went on a windy day in October, so we didn't have favourable conditions for bird-watching, but the red kites were a nice find.

Wonderful experience, the comedy started the second we entered the bus. Eoin has a nice kind of humour and even more special: he talked 8 hours straight without nonsense (well ok a little bit sometimes). It made a seemingly boring bus drive to some trees (sorry girlfriend) so much easier to endure, time flew by! The trip itself is wonderful, lots of different sights. The tour guide had in-depth information about local sites as well, so with every piece of road, we learned a bit more. I would highly recommend this tour!

Amazing day trip with Dave & Eddie trip worth going. Dave is very knowledgeable about Dublin's history & very witty No dull moments whilst in the bus & the views of Wicklow & Glendalough were spectacular❣. Would love to go back in autumn

We met a 9 AM and returned just after 6 PM. Our guide was Eoin who gave us a witty and energetic commentary during the entire trip save the final hour on our way back when we collected our thoughts. Eoin is a natural storyteller who informed us of the history and cultural background of the area along with personal stories of his life in Dublin and County Wicklow. We had several stops to view the scenery along with stops for coffee, lunch, and a 2-hour stay at Glendalough. Lunch was self-pay, but the restaurant was wonderful with a good selection of food at reasonable prices. This was better than a tour selected meal with no choice. The 2-hour stay at Glendalough included a guided walk led by Eoin who has an impressive familiarity with the plants and trees in the park. I highly recommend this tour for those staying in Dublin more than a couple of days.

Highly recommend this trip, which exceeded my expectations. Well-paced with plenty of stops to get out and properly appreciate the landscape and take photographs. Full 2 hours at Glendalough, so time to fully appreciate it. Our guide Eoin was amazing and provided so much information and gave us so many laughs - all whilst driving the bus! He also led us on a very interesting walk around Glendalough. Will definitely book with Grayline again.

Perfect as an escape from more urban areas of Dublin. As soon as we were picked up in the city centre, our guide Eoin started pointing out sites of interest. He had a great deal to say about almost everything we passed, delivered with enthusiasm and the very occasional joke. In fact, I don't think he stopped talking until the end of the tour! But in that time managed to cover all sorts of topics from Irish politics and history to the wildlife around Wicklow, the good craic made the bus journey fly by. The journey was also broken up by lots of stops along the way to see Guinness Lake (Lough Tay), the Ps. I Love you bridge and finally Glendalough. Here you could walk around freely or follow Eoin on a walk through the 17th-century monastery, which I would recommend, as he also shared his extensive knowledge of the monastery's history. The walk also took us past the two lakes that the valley is famous for, which are extremely picturesque. The tour finished at the quiet former mining town of Avoca, where you could have lunch at the pub or just explore for an hour. However, I would suggest bringing food to snack on throughout the day as you will arrive in Avoca at around 15:30. All in all, definitely worth the money.

Eddie the driver and Dave the guide were absolute. I've done many, many tours like this, and this was by far my favourite one day experience. Dave's knowledge and personality and sensitivity to the group's needs were unparalleled. He regaled us with Fascinating and accurate Irish history but knew when to put the mic down. Eddie's driving was skilled on those narrow passageways. Incredible value. Memorable time. Lovely experience. 14/10. Definitely would do it all over again.

Not knowing what to do on our first day in Dublin, we went ahead and booked tickets online for Glendalough and Wicklow Mountains Day Trip with privatetour.com.The trip starts from the city centre and ends around 5.30 pm on the eve. Overall, a day well spent, thanks to our guide/driver Eion. He is super humorous, knowledgeable about the history of Ireland and open to answering any of your curious questions. The 1.30-hour walk in Glendalough, along with a visit to the monastery, was perfect on a sunny day. Soak in the greenery at the Wicklow National Park and enjoy the serene view of the Upper Lake as you walk along.

De dagtrip naar de Wicklow Mountains is absoluut de moeite waard! Onze chauffeur Eoin praatte de gehele dag aan elkaar en gaf ons veel wetenswaardigheden over de Ieren en Ierland mee. We hadden ongelooflijk geluk met het weer en konden genieten van de prachtige uitzichten, genoeg vrije wandeltijd in Glendalough en een heerlijke lunch in het prachtige Avoca. Zeker doen!

Une très bonne journée dans le comté de Wicklow, des paysages magnifique ,de nombreux point d'arret pour prendre des photos et si le temps le permet une petite balade de 2km en pleine nature. Excursion incontournable si (comme nous) restez que peu de temps a Dublin. Excellent rapport qualité\prix. Irlanda era um destino de sonho. Apesar de ter sido uma visita muito curta, logo me apaixonei por Dublin. Mas queria mesmo era ver as montanhas Wicklow. Não poderia ter sido melhor! Nosso guia foi Mr. Eoin. Um ser humano que parece ter sido "talhado" para essa profissão, pelo amor por sua terra, pela educação e simpatia connosco, pela partilha de conhecimento e pelo apuradissimo sentido de humor. Na penúltima paragem, minhas amigas e eu nos desorientamos e acabamos por nos atrasar uns 10 minutos à chegada combinada ao bus. E ele lá estava, paciente e atento, à nossa espera. I have done this tour twice with different friends and had Richie both times. I can really recommend this to people who are visiting Dublin but would like to see a bit more of Ireland. This tour was very structured and well organised but we felt like we still had a bit of independence, such as being able to choose what we did with our time whilst in Glendalough. Richie was very friendly and knowledgeable. At the end of the tour, we felt like we had done a lot and been entertained the whole way

Escogimos el tour hacia Wiclow...y acertamos! La visita en general muy bien. Unas vistas fantasticas y unos paisajes perfectos y sobretodo muy limpios y cuidados. El conductor muy correcto (Richie), aunque si no sabes mucho ingles estaras un poco perdido.

Nous voulions voir autre chose que Dublin durnat notre séjour irlandais et nous avons été servi avec cet itinéraire. Nous avons passé une superbe journée dans ce bus accompagné de Eoin. Très bon guide qui connaît sa ville, sa région, son pays. Nous avons également eu le droit à quelques blagues de sa part, il pousse aussi la chansonnette. Wir waren vergangenen Sonntag mit Dom unterwegs. Es war ein tolle Tag in den Wicklow Mountains. Glendalough ist sehr voll gewesen, aber auch hier gibt es ruhigere Plätze. Die Tour hatte eine gute Mischung aus Stopps, Fahrt und interessanten Infos. Dom als unser Guide hat alle Nationen im Bus unter einen Hut bekommen.

He drove very safely and nearly didn't stop giving us information along the journey. The whole day was a memorable one so thumbs up to this company and mostly the driver.

Due to bad weather, our trip didn't include the Guinness lake. Instead, we made a stop in Bray at the eastern coast of Ireland with an astonishing view. This more than made up for the little detour. Our driver Matt made the trip very interesting and we enjoyed his stories a lot. Once in Glendalough he even gave a small tour himself which we enjoyed. If you're in Dublin for a few days we highly recommend taking this tour. We were back at our pickup point at 5:30 PM.

We were fortunate to get the knowledgeable and hilarious Eoin. He had us laughing and entertained the whole time. I mean what a energy! This is definitely what you want from a guide! Knowledge, Entertainment and Fun! Eoin is definitely a plus when you visit Ireland! You got to have him with you!

Er det muligt, så sørg for, at tage turen med Eoin. Han agerer både chauffør og guide. Han er umådelig underholdende, sjov, humoristisk og meget vidende. Hele leuke tour ondanks dat we niet de brug PS I LOVE U konden bezoeken vanwege sneeuwval. Heel gezellige chauffeur Eoin waar ik nog een deel van U2 's song Van Diemensland aan het meer met de gelijkwaardige naam heb gezongen. Een babbelkous eerste klas maar heel veel humor en veel kennis over alles wat hij ons heeft laten zien. Prachtige trip.

This tour covered lovely locations but was made a real Irish experience by Eoin Pierce, our skilful driver, exceptional guide, historian, entertainer and raconteur. He made our day special. At the end of the tour, every one of Eoin's 50 passengers left the bus happy - and that's a really successful tour.

Unser Tourguide Eoin war unschlagbar: allein bis wir Dublins Stadtsgrenzen verließen gab er eine umfassende Stadtführung und auch später informierte er uns umfassend über die Sehenswürdigkeiten, aber auch über das Leben in Irland und die Geschichte des Landes.Und dies in einer so ulterhaltsamen Art, dass man auch längere Zeit super zuhören konnte. Alles in allem ein absolut lohnender Ausflug!

We went to Wicklow mountains with the Dublin departure tour and we had a wonderful day! Our guide, Eoin, was super energic, giving us a lot of details, super stories about everything! The landscapes are also amazing, I seriously advise you to book with them and ask for Eoin!

I joined the tour as a way to escape the city for the weekend. I had already been to Glendalough and the Wicklow mountains but this time the experience was amazing thanks to the tour guide Eoin (John if you can't read Irish) :) He was super informative and funny at the same time, I have been on quite a bit of tour but this was the funniest and most informative of them all. Eoin explains a lot about Irish history and makes you really see Ireland for what it is in reality. We will definitely join Eoin for another tour, to Newgrange :)

Great day tour with a great driver. Eoin was charming and knowledgeable. The Irish countryside is lovely and Glendalough is a must see. Make sure to eat heartily as we didn't stop for a sit-down meal until after 3 pm.

Great 9 hours with Richie, a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. We weren't rushed and had plenty of time at each spot. He was even up to take those willing and able for a fast pasted hike up and up a trail to see the entire Glendalough Valley, pulling out a few old-timey photos of that valley as we climbed to see the difference. He said he goes Tuesday through Saturdays so try to get on the 9:00 am a coach.

The Wicklow mountains day tour was excellent! My friends and I had a great time. The tour was on time, thanks to our driver Stephen, full of information and fun from our guide, Trevor, who was really knowledgeable and funny. Of course, the sights were amazing! Definitely a wonderful experience.

Glendalough mountains are the perfect place to go for walk or just to chill, looking at the beautiful lake, no matter what the weather is like it is perfect!!!

We took 3-day trips out of Dublin on 3 different tour groups. The tour bus from privatetour.com to the Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough was our favourite. The bus was new and very comfortable, the tour bus driver, Richie, was organized and knew his stuff. Due to weather, we were not able to go to the Wicklow Mountains, but plan B was still fabulous. Richie provided a wealth of knowledge about Irish history and how it related to where we travelled and then had excellent Irish music that went along with the history he told us. He took us to a great lunch and it was an excellent day. Also, the WiFi on this bus was the best compared to the other 2 tour busses we went on. Would highly recommend this tour company and Richie!!

Our guide, Eoin, was superb. He was funny and informative and went out of his way to welcome people from all over the world - 18 countries on our tour. He also guided us around Glendalough and shared his knowledge of the local area and the natural beauty. What an amazing experience!

We decided to go with the tour to the Wicklow mountains, and I’m so happy we did! Firstly, nice and comfortable coach bus with USB ports. Bring chargers. Richie was a good driver navigating the mountain roads, a knowledgeable guide and is a genuinely nice person. We had to deviate from the advertised tour due to road closures from the snow storm (Beast of the East) at the beginning of March. Went to Gardens of Powerscourt near the village of Enniskerry where some walked around the gardens, some went to the Avoca shops and cafe. We travelled on mountain roads to Roundwood-Luggala and got out to view the lake. Enjoyed the scenery as we travelled to Glendalough, a sixth-century monastery ruins, cemetery and 2 lakes. Some of our group of 55 hiked the upper lake or did their own exploring. A group of about 20 stayed with our driver Richie and viewed the cemetery and walked the lower lake and viewed the waterfall (about 3.5 miles). We re-boarded the bus promptly at the established time and travelled to a restaurant/Inn for late lunch before returning to Dublin.

Just returned from a grand full day tour with privatetour.com to The Wicklow Mountains. The weather was warm and (mostly) sunny, and the scenery beautiful - but the day was made by the irrepressible EoinP (the man, the legend), our driver & narrator for the day - the guy is a HOOT! We're not quite sure how he keeps it coming, but he's just a non-stop raconteur: the locals, the sights, random joggers, other motorists, history, politics, economics, flora & fauna - it's all great craic & seemingly bottomless...we came away with a renewed appreciation for Dublin, the Irish and the local culture in general. Do not hesitate to take this trip - and if you're lucky enough to find Eoin in the driving seat, then you can rest assured that you're all set up for a great day out. Highly Recommended.

We recently took this day trip and found it to be one of the best parts about our time in Ireland. Eoin was our tour guide and his infectious personality and knowledge of the area in addition to the incredible scenery made the trip so remarkable. The weather started off poorly but thankfully it cleared in time to see the amazing views of Guinness Lake and Glendalough. It was absolutely breathtaking and unforgettable! In addition to the awesome sightseeing, Eoin gave us a detailed history of the areas we were passing through. At the end of the trip, our tour stopped at a pub in a small town on our way back to Dublin which was delicious.

Die Tour fand ihren gemütlichen Ausklang in einem Pub mit typisch irischen Speisen und Getränken. Alles in allem ein absolut gelungener Tag!

My friend and I have gone on a few tours in Dublin now and this one, while short and sweet, was done by the most incredible guide (Eoin)! His commentary was a wonderful mix of facts, history, story, and a bit of comedy. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and would recommend Eoin to everyone!

I felt this tour was all around worthy of making an account and hopefully persuading others to book. I can't say enough about Eion, our guide. He's intelligent, witty and extremely knowledgeable of not only Ireland as a whole but the Wicklow area itself. We met him a couple days before the trip and told him we were thinking about booking. He easily persuaded us so 2 days later when we started to board, he surprised us by reserving spots in the very front for us! How cool!? I only have a week in Ireland; staying in Dublin city and I wanted to get out of the city for a while and this was PERFECT. It's not just some long boring bus trip, it's entertaining, up close with the countryside, educational, and everything else. You won't regret it!

Being picked up from O'Connell street, it was very comfortable being driven around in the very modern bus which was not fully booked. Our tour guide and bus driver Richie did an excellent job in keeping us entertained with information about Dublin, Wicklow etc. and stories from other tours. We always had an appropriate amount of time to check out the awesome viewpoints. Between 12.20 and 14.20 we visited the so-called Guinness lake, which was either accessible by several footpaths or the small hiking tour along the water and over the hill that Richie offered for us. Joining that, we got a decent amount of exercise. Afterwards, we headed to a pub in a small town where we got normally priced traditional Irish food (apple pie was awesome btw). Pricing was very fair, but be sure to check your online voucher at the city sightseeing shop before you board.

Selon ce qui nous a été présenté au départ, nous devions nous rendre à Glencree Cemetery. Mais cela n'enlève rien à la qualité de la journée qui a été excellente, d'autant plus que nous avons eu la chance d'avoir du beau temps :)

My husband and I booked the privatetour.com Wicklow Mountains Tour during our recent stay in Dublin. We wanted to get out of the city and experience some of the Irish countrysides and this tour fulfilled all of our expectations. Our coach driver and guide, Richie, was wonderful. He let the group know up front that our tour might be delayed or rerouted because of the possibility of debris following Hurricane Ophelia (our tour was the day after the storm passed over the region). He kept up a succinct and witty commentary on the local sights, giving historical on the areas we drove through. It was just the right balance of plenty of information punctuated with periods of quiet. The tour route takes you through breathtaking views of the Wicklow Mountains along 1798 Old Military Road, past charming farmhouses and grand country estates like the Guinness home on Guinness Lake. When we reached Glendalough, Richie offered to take whoever was interested in a different hiking path to the upper lake. It gave a different view of the area and we still had plenty of time to explore the monastery ruins. It was a delightful day and we would do another tour both with this company and with Richie on the second visit to Ireland.

We researched all the different tours for Wicklow and noted that some of the other tours had long nearly 4 hour stops at villages which we seemed unnecessary (seemed like somewhat of a gimmick--why make a nearly 4 hour stop at a village when the intent of the trip is to see the natural landscapes?). This tour had the best pace we were looking for with all the right stops with just the right amount of time for each stop. Our tour guide Gerry and the driver Agar were a great team and gave informative, entertaining and funny commentary while leaving Dublin and all along the way. The bus was quite full and I'd recommend definitely checking in at the counter about 15 minutes early. The first stop was at Glencree which was a great coffee shop and a short leisurely stroll, with a well-timed bathroom break. The two subsequent stops at the bridge and Guinness Lake were just enough (about 15 mins each) for photos without feeling rushed or bored and were beautiful. The highlight of the visit was at Glendalough--Gerry led a guided tour at the monastery (we did not partake in this as we wanted more time to stroll). The stop is about 2 hours, and you have plenty of time to look around and walk to the lower and upper lakes. Upper Lake was gorgeous, and none of the walks is very strenuous at all but would recommend walking shoes. I would also recommend bringing snacks as, by the time you leave Glendalough and get to Avoca for lunch, it is about 3 pm. The 1 hour stop at Avoca was great--Gerry recommended lunch at Fitzgerald's, with pub food and well-priced Guinness which we enjoyed and then returned to Dublin by 5:30 pm. Would highly recommend this trip and though obviously, we did not go on any of the other Wicklow tours, we were very pleased with our experience with this tour compared to the descriptions of other tours--great tour by Gerry and Agar with entertaining and informative commentary including stories of Irish history along the way, excellent pace of tour and stops.

This day trip was an amazing start to our time in Dublin. Our tour guide Eoin was hilarious yet informative and surprisingly knowledgeable. He truly made the day what it was with his great Irish character and sense of humour. The Wicklow landscape was incredible and there are some picturesque photo opportunities along the route. Lunch was absolutely delicious as well to top it all off. Would fully recommend to anyone visiting Dublin!

The views in Wicklow and Glendalough are wonderful, but our tour guide is what really made our day fantastic! Eoin was phenomenal!! The perfect person for this job! There had to be a slight adjustment to the typical first stop of the tour due to fires caused by the heat wave in Ireland at the time, but Eoin was sure to provide us with equally wonderful stops and went out of his way to figure out a new route to Guinness Lake as it was a highly requested stop for those on the tour. For our 2 hour stop in Glendalough, Eoin took it upon himself to guide a walk around the area for anyone who wanted to join - above and beyond expectations! That was the highlight of our day! Eoin is exceptionally knowledgeable, incredibly kind, and very entertaining. Our favourite tour in Ireland by far and that is fully attributed to Eoin! Thank you for a fabulous day!!

A wonderful day out through the Wicklow Mountains. Beautiful terrain and amazing weather changes (4 seasons in one day). Our guide was Richie who was entertaining and very knowledgeable about both the geography and the history of the area. I can’t imagine how anyone can keep up a running, entertaining monologue while driving a mammoth tour bus through lanes that were designed for horse carts. Richie did it with style. Highly recommended.

Went on this tour this morning and did not regret this at all! The views were breathtaking and enjoyed the frequent stops for a quick coffee and to take pictures. Ritchie was the best tour guide ever, so funny, knowledgeable and caring! Would do it all over again! Go for it! A+++

Out of three days in Dublin, my husband and I wanted to spend one in the countryside, it ended up being the best day of them all. The views and places are just gorgeous and our tour-guide, Eoin, is wonderfully funny, friendly and very knowledgeable both in the history of places and other subjects. This trip surpassed any expectations, I highly recommend it.

Due to weather we were unable to visit a couple of the original photo stops along the route, however, we visited Bray and the Wicklow mountains along with our last stop at a traditional Irish pub. The Wicklow Park tour took around 2 hours - I was stressed at first that I didn’t have the right footwear but there is a path around the old monastery and lakes. The mountains were very magical! Our driver was a chap called Eoin -he really made the experience memorable and was exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate about the area and history about the areas we visited. I would strongly recommend this tour for anyone who wants a tour outside the hustle of busy Dublin!

On our first trip to Europe, we visited Dublin and took a privatetour.com day tour. Our guide's name was Eoin. He was friendly and informative. The bus had air conditioning and USB outlets to charge our devices. We stopped in an area of Wicklow and had lunch at a small restaurant named Hendley's. The fish and chips were fabulous. I'd recommend this tour and try to get Eoin as your guide.

Die Tour durch die Wicklow Mountains war einfach super. Bei der Fahrt durch den Nationalpark kann man viel von der schönen Landschaft sehen und es gibt einige Stops zum Fotos machen. In Glendalough hat man genug Zeit um einen Spaziergang zu machen und vielleicht ein kleines Picknick. Wir hatten viel Spaß mit unserem Fahrer Richie, der auf lustige Weise uns viele Informationen gegeben hat.

After our trip to Northern Ireland didn't plan out as we had hoped, we decided to book a day trip to the Wicklow Mountains. Our tour guide Ritchie took us to Glencree, the Wicklow Mountain plains, Glendalough & Ballykissangel for an excellent meal at the pub in town. The views are nothing short of breathtaking and Ritchie was a super informative and humorous tour guide. Definitely worth spending a day doing this tour, you won't regret it!

Eoin “like Owen” is a delight of a tour guide. I was not especially excited about this tour, mostly doing it for my sister and her first time in Ireland, but Eoin completely won me over. He knows a ton about the Wicklow area (his family is from here!) and threw in a bunch of personal tidbits throughout the day, which made the tour more enjoyable. Everyone else we met at the office seemed nice as well, and they made it easy to board the bus and get back to our hostel afterwards. Highly highly recommend if you’re looking for a day trip. The guide was really nice and made the whole trip very interesting with a lot of jokes and knowledge, we had enough time at every spot and it was a really nice atmosphere. Definitely recommendable! Worth the money!

This tour was fantastic. Not only was it a beautiful time with all of the local routes, thorough but engaging explanations with (a good sense of) humour, Richie made it important to make sure everyone was comfortable. It was a lovely time, I got to have a deeper respect for it was my first time travelling solo and really appreciated the genuine, warm, welcoming vibes. We shared our love for music and ended up sharing songs like deep house & stories of past lives, was not expecting that & so delighted it happened!
