Overview

It is the ‘island factor’ that makes this 7 Day Madagascar Yacht Charter Safari so fascinating. In fact, it has been an island for 160 million years. The yacht charter allows you to experience the diverse ecologies of Madagascar with the vast majority of its plants and animals existing nowhere else on earth. Its forests are filled with weird and wonderful creatures, such as 50 species of lemurs, a collage of different chameleons and a vast array of tropical birds!

Cruise to Ankazaberavina Island which is a marine protected area. Fabulous snorkelling in crystal clear blue waters. A resident pair of Malagasy fish eagles are often spotted. After lunch, we sail to Russian Bay about two and a half miles away and overnight in the idyllic calm bay. Spend the afternoon on the beach or explore the ruins of the old Russian fort dating back to 1906. Sunset on the boat.

Visit Nosy Iranja. The trip is approximately 15 Nautical miles and will take about three hours. Iranja is a perfect tropical island with white sandy beaches and turquoise water. It is two islands joined by a sand spit, at low tide you can walk from one island to the other. Stroll through the village and take a scenic walk to the old lighthouse with panoramic views. Lunch is served on board and then with the afternoon wind, we sail to our next anchorage – Baramahamay River. If we’re in time we can launch the dinghy for a sunset cruise up one of the mangrove estuaries.

Discover the small uninhabited island of Antshoa (South African island). This is the best lemur experience in the area and the island has 5 different species of lemurs. Relax under the shady trees with refreshments and watch the world go by. Lunch is served on board while we sail with the afternoon wind to our overnight anchorage off Sakatia Island.

Explore Tanikely Marine Reserve. Excellent snorkelling, stunning beaches and the island also house a small lighthouse built in 1908 by Gustav Eiffel.  Lunch is served on board whilst we sail to Komba (Lemur) Island. There is a lively village here with beach bars, little markets and a delightful lemur walk.

Make our way back to Hell-Ville harbour, this is an opportunity to do shopping and to experience the port and main town of Nosy BeFruit, vegetables, locally made grass ware, stone mortar and pestles, vanilla, many types of beans, rice, sugar, flour and raw coffee are sold out of 60kg grain bags. You can then transfer to your hotel of choice for your last night on Nosy be mainland. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from with discos and bars in the tourist town, Ambataloaka.
