This private Ephesus tour from Pamukkale/Kusadasi drop off includes a visit to The House Of Virgin Mary, Ephesus and The Ancient Temple Of Artemis.

On this day you will visit the shrine thought to be the House of Virgin Mary. Tradition states that Mary, accompanied by John the Apostle, came to Ephesus at the end of her life. In 167, Pope Paul VI claimed the site authentic and each year a traditional service, celebrated by Orthodox and Muslim clergy, honours Mary’s Assumption into heaven.

Upon reaching the once powerful city of Ephesus, the guided walking tour will take you through one of the most magnificent excavations in the world. See the Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the five terraces of the Apartment House, the Steam Baths of Scholastica, the Temple of Hadrian and the impressive Library of Celsus. The library is adorned with columns and statues and is considered one of the most magnificent ruins not only in the city but also in the ancient world. The Grand Theatre, where St. Paul preached, is the largest theatre in antiquity with a capacity of 24,000 seats. You return to your car through the Arcadian Way, where Mark Anthony and Cleopatra once rode in procession. The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is also a must see.

Great tour - both places were spectacular and worth the visit. We ended up having a private tour due to the low tourist season. We were picked up at our hotel in a very nice van and driven to the sites. Our tour guide did a nice job of explaining the Roman ruins and gave us all the time we needed at Pamukkale which is truly exceptional, the calcium deposit pools are everything you expect and more. It has sunken Greek and Roman columns and this is really where you can enjoy the warmest waters and the pool is plenty deep whereas the terraces are only knee deep

Ephesus & Pamukkale !!! Where do I begin? Before I visited this site my only idea was that this is one place was with a lot of history. But what is that, how old it dates back to, its inclusion under the Seven Wonders of Ancient World- I had no idea !!! And believe you me our guide Mr Nazim is a storehouse of knowledge. With his constant narration of the events taking around the time it was built and the excavated we felt so enriched after the day. My mother who is strictly vegetarian had the best Gozlemah served to her by a Turkish family where we had lunch arranged by our considerate guide. He enriched our local experience by taking us to various not-very-touristy places which was a cheery on the cake. Would highly recommend it to people who are looking for a punctual, lively and historically enriching trip !!!
