Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara

Pick up from Arusha and transfer to Lake Manyara national park.
Lake Manyara National Park for morning game drive with picnic lunch
This national park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park), located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Lake Manyara’s unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake.

Day 2: Lake Manyara – Serengeti Plains

After breakfast, we head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high-lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.

We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park.
Dinner and overnight in the Seronera area, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.

Day 3: Serengeti

We do and after breakfast game viewing drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River, and which is good for possible Lion, Thomson gazelle, topi, ostrich and cheetah sightings. The Visitor Centre close to the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites is well worth a visit after the morning’s game drive. This nicely designed centre offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The centre also has a shop where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased, as well as a picnic area and information trail up and around a nearby kopje. We will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the centre in the shade of the giant acacia trees.

In the afternoon we will follow the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, which usually attract a number of lion and some formidably large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. This makes the kopjes particularly good for spotting wildlife in the dry seasons – including lions, which like to lie in wait for animals coming to drink!

Dinner and overnight in the Seronera area, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater.

A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be been seen here.

Just completed an amazing safari in Tanzania's northern circuit through Great Africa Expedition. What an incredible trip!We were collected in Mwanza by our Safari guide, Miragez Kirawiz who drove us into the Western Serengeti to commence our safari. Said was an excellent guide.

His ability to spot animals at great distances enabled us to see the best of a game drive. He had every confidence that we would see the big 5, and he was right....over and over again. To see multiple prides of lions and herds of elephants may not be unusual, but to see so may leopards and two rhinos was very special. Our safari took us through the Western Serengeti to Central Serengeti, and then finally to Ngorongoro.

This is the third time I've booked through Great Africa Expedition, (two previous occasions being to climb Kilimanjaro) and on each occasion, Mathias and her team have gone out of their way to make the experience special. I've been in countless safari's and I must say going through Great Africa Expedition has been the best experience ever.

I cannot recommend them more highly. Scot Hill UK

Lean back, relax and enjoy. Great Africa gives you the safari you are dreaming about!Just lean back, relax and enjoy. Great Africa Expedition do everything so you don't have to worry about a thing during your safari. You can really trust that this safari company give you what they promise you. All aspects of the safari, from the comunication with the owner Rupia preparing your trip, guides, and accommodation, everything is excellent. I did not hesitate to recommend Great Africa Expedition when a colleague were going to Tanzania for safari. Her family also had a great safari with Great Africa Expedition. I had a great safari in Ngorongoro. The guide found all the big 5, he was experienced and pleasant. I came back to Arusha the following year. On this trip i got sick, and the only person i trusted to call was Mathias Rupia He helped me to find a good hospital and i got the treatment i needed. I have been on safari with another company in the area before, but if I will come back for another safari in the future, I am sure I will book with Great Africa Expedition again. I highly recommend this safari company.

My first time in a lifetime to visit AfricaThis vacation was a dream come true for me...and Great Africa Expedition did a great job of making it happen! They responded very quickly and completely to our requests for information.

They were extremely helpful in helping us design the trip we wanted within our budget and they came through beautifully on everything that was promised! Our guide was amazing, extremely knowledgeable, great fun, and he took great care of us every moment of our 12 days on safari and Zanzibar! Our cook was wonderful as well...and he makes the best soup ever! We were well-fed and well-cared-for every step of the way from the moment they picked us up at the airport to the moment they dropped us off. It was an amazing vacation! Thanks so much Miragez !

And thank you to your amazing team for an experience I'll never forget Great Africa Expedition

Wonderful experience with Great Africa ExpeditionWe did our honeymoon the 10-Day Experience Tanzania and Zanzibar in Luxury Lodges with World Tours and it was truly amazing. Our guide Jimmy was great - really friendly and super knowledgeable.

The standard of accommodation we stayed in was superb and the food there was really good - even the packed lunches they provided were of a high standard. The real stars of the show though were, of course, the animals and the spectacular landscapes in which they live.

We loved every minute of this trip and would like to thank Great Africa Expedition for taking care of us. First class!

Family safari for 6 Tarangire, Serengeti and NgorogoroJust returned from an absolutely life changing experience in Tanzania. Or Guide Mirage of Great Africa Expedition was professional courteous and knowledgeable. He adjusted our schedule so we could experience the wilder beast migration towards the Mara river.

We saw so much wildlife it was amazing. We felt safe and looked after during the whole safari. The food was very good and the tented camps were luxurious bearing in mind the sheer remoteness of their location. One night we could hear a lion growling most of the night! We spotted the big five and saw many elephants lions zebra and wildebeest with their young.

The trip finished with a three-day hike in Meru national park, Mirage ensured all arrangements were made to make our hike safe and memorable.

The rangers really know how to guide tourists on a climb making us walk very slowly to reduce the risk of developing AMS.Highly recommend this company and Mirage in particular.

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Great Africa Expedition for both the climb and safari. Erika Bloom, their contact in the US had everything arranged flawlessly and thing went off without a hitch. The guides for the climb were very professional and safety was obviously a number one priority given the safety equipment they had on the mountain. The Safari guide was very knowledgable about the parks. game, plants etc. Also to the climb guide and the safari guide has great senses of humor which also led to a pleasant experience. I could not recommend they any higher.Visited August 2018

I've climbed all over the world but have never climbed with such a professional, friendly and well organised operation as Everlasting Tanzania. This is my second time climbing Kilimanjaro and on both occasions I have been a client of Everlasting - they are.... quite simply .... THE BEST. From beginning to end - they were incredible. On both occasions we brought a group of school kids up the mountain with Everlasting - As you can imagine the concerns are much higher when climbing with youngsters as they have additional challenges to adults. Parents too have real concerns about letting their 'loved ones' off to climb to the roof of Africa. Everlasting Tanzania are to be highly commended for their focus on mountain safety, their provision of medical assistance if required and the in-depth knowledge, care and personal attention that all the guides gave to the youngsters throughout the trip - they are superb. Equally, the support crew of porters and chefs are formidable - Always cheerful, always helpful and for anyone who has trekked, they set up and break down camp with aclarity and fly past you on the mountain laden with bags - arriving at next camp ready to welcome you with a sunny smile, joyful song and dance.... As a nation, they are wonderfully friendly, warm and engaging people who on both occasions really made our trip truly special. The fact that Everlasting Tanzania really take care of their employees - ensuring that they are well paid, well cared for and supported is reflected in the loyalty of team - many of the porters and guides I met 4 years ago were still working with Everlasting this year when I returned a second time which is a wonderful compliment to Everlasting. They sing the praises of Everlasting as an employer and from a Clients perspective, I too sing their praises - if you travel to Tanzania to either Climb Kilimanjaro or to do a Safari - they are, in my opinion, the ONLY company to use! Thank you all for an amazing trip!Visited July 2017
