Day 1: BARCELONA

Meet your driver for a private airport transfer in Barcelona. Please note drivers may or may not speak English, as their sole responsibility is to transfer clients from one location to another.

For your added comfort, we will have an English speaking assistant waiting for you at the hotel lobby. Your representative will help you to check in and walk you through the welcome package documents.

There is so much to see and do both in Barcelona and its surrounding area. In the city, consider any of the following tours (most available in a shared and private format): explore the gastronomic side of the city doing a cava (Spanish champagne from the region), wine tasting and/or tapas tour, take a cooking class to discover the secrets of Catalan cuisine, see the city on two wheels on a guided biking tour, explore the different neighbourhoods on a walking tour.

Excursions outside of the city include a visit to various wineries in the Penedes region, north of Barcelona, a trip to the seaside resort town of Sitges located close to Barcelona, a visit to the renowned Dali museum in Figueres, a visit to the beautiful city of Girona, a trip to Andorra, visit the Montserrat monastery.

Day 3: BARCELONA

Enjoy a half day private cooking class in Barcelona and discover the secrets of the traditional cuisine. You will learn how to cook some of Spain's authentic, typical dishes (paella, gazpacho, tapas,…).

First you will start with a walking tour around the famous Boqueria market, where your chef will give you plenty of tips on picking local, seasonal products and learn how to get the best and freshest ingredients.

Back at the school, you'll continue your cooking experience and you'll end your day adventure enjoying the food you have previously prepared. Discover the local culture through gastronomy with a highly engaging hands-on workshop .

You will learn how to cook the Spanish dishes that have travelled the world. You will cook them yourself with the aid of an experienced chef. Amongst scents, flavors and good wine, they will unveil the secrets of Spanish cuisine while you enjoy a traditional meal.

Day 4: BARCELONA - SAN SEBASTIAN

San Sebastian is extremely pedestrian friendly – both within the historical centre, and along the expansive beaches which border it. The charming old quarter is bursting with cafés and restaurants where you can try their tasty tapas.

Other attractions include the Baroque Church of Santa Maria , the Gothic Church of San Vicente, and the Museo de San Telemo , a former 16 th century convent. For spectacular views of the bay and town, climb atop Mount Urgull and Mount Igueldo .

At the base of Mount Igeldo is a beach where visitors can take a ride to the peak to witness the breathtaking view. Miramar Palace, is located above the " Pico del Loro ", marking the strategic junction of La Concha Beach and Ondarreta Beach , and also the dividing point in the long promenade between two city districts: " El Antiguo " and " Miraconcha ".

The Palace marks the city's historical origin, because it is based on the plan of the old church of San Sebastián, the original urban center of the town. The magnificent palace complex, with its park, gardens, several buildings and outbuildings, is a quintessential summer place.

Once you are ready for home, you can make the journey back to San Sebastian at leisure.

Day 5: SAN SEBASTIAN

Having shopped with great care and attention you will experience a truly unique San Sebastian phenomenon, deep in the old town. Here you will share an aperitif with a Basque chef who will give you further insight into the Basque food movement.

Day 6: SAN SEBASTIAN

Day 7: SAN SEBASTIAN - BILBAO

Meet your driver for a private transfer from your hotel in San Sebastian to Bilbao.

Enjoy a private guided tour of Bilbao. The tour will take you through the "Siete Calles" (seven roads), the name given to the historical centre of Bilbao. In this area the "Catedral de Santiago" (Santiago Cathedral) was built, replacing the old chapel dedicated to Apostle Saint James.

This Gothic temple is amongst the city's most emblematic buildings. Stroll around its cobbled streets and get to the New Square, San Antón Church and the busy Ribera Market. Discover Bilbao's architectonic and urban development from the 19th century to the present.

Day 8: BILBAO

Enjoy a 1.5 hour private visit of the Guggenheim museum with a guide. “The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao offers a comprehensive overview of the visual arts of the 20th century.

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Collection has its own unique identity, while also complementing the collections at the other Guggenheim institutions.

The Museum’s collection currently features works by some of the most significant artists of the second half of the 20th century, such as Eduardo Chillida, Yves Klein, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Clyfford Still, Antoni Tàpies, and Andy Warhol, among others”.

There are numerous things to see and do in Bilbao - here are some  favorites:

  • In the summer see an open air concert at the Kiosko del Arenal El Arenal Parque (across from Plaza Arriaga). The stage was built in 1923, and renovated in 1985.
  • Beginning the first Saturday after August 15th for a duration of 9 days is Aste Nagusia / Semana Grande, the city's fiesta (holiday). An interesting time to visit,
    however be prepared for lots of noise, music, street theater and events, with firework displays in the evening. Details are available from the tourist office in Teatro
    Arriaga.
  • Walk through the seven streets of the Casco Viejo (historical centre of the city).
  • Climb the Mallona stairs from Plaza Unamuno to Parque Etxebarria for the great views.
  • Walk along the river.
  • Walk through Doña Casilda Iturrizar Park, admiring the ponds and gardens, next to the Fine Arts Museum.
  • Take the Artxanda Funicular, again for the views.
  • Go kayaking or rent a boat from Bilbobentura [13] (a company that rents out kayaks on the bank of the river nervion).
  • First Saturdays Flea Market. Dos de Mayo Street transforms every first Saturday into a flea market selling antiques, books, and second hand clothes.

Day 9: BILBAO

This morning, you will be picked up by your driver in the lobby of the hotel and be driven to La Rioja where you will meet your guide for your first wine tour of the day at one of the renowned and historic wineries in Haro and wine tasting.

Afterwards visit at one of the small, traditional family run wineries of the region with wine tasting after the tour. Lunch with a traditional and typical menu from Rioja served along with Rioja wine.

Your last stop wine tour with tasting at one of contemporary-designed wineries with cutting edge designs and the most innovative technologies. Drive back to your hotel in Bilbao. Includes: wineries admission fees, wine tastings, lunch, private transportation with chauffeur and private English speaking guide.

  • Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

This tour was great, our tour guide was very informative and has arranged us perfectly all local guides were knowledgeable and good. The driver was very well experienced in driving.

Very good trip to the different winery. Be prepared to leave very tipsy as they are not cheap with the servings of wine and cheese. Would absolutely recommend this tour.
