Spanning across the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, the Greater Kruger Area covers nearly 2 million hectares of land. Today, you will be escorted out into the Private Game Reserves for a few hours before returning to the lodge to freshen up for dinner.

Garonga Safari Camp is an exclusive 12-bed camp that lies among the 22,000 hectares of the greater Makalali Conservancy, situated just west of the Kruger National Park. This unassuming sanctuary promises an intimate wildlife encounter in an unhurried environment where you can unwind, sleep deeply, and be yourself. Garonga's holistic philosophy is to offer a safari for the soul, an unhurried and intimate wildlife encounter, a time to reflect and find inspiration in nature. You can try every activity offered, or you can simply do nothing at all, lazing in a hammock with a good book while watching the grazing impala. House
Before first light, you will meet up with other guests at the lodge and begin your early morning game drive. Enjoy the tranquillity of a stunning sunrise over the unspoilt bush. Many species are still active in the early morning before the heat of the day sets in. With any luck, you will spot some of the resident predators enjoying the spoils from their hunt the night before. You will be out in the Private Game Reserve for a few hours before returning to the lodge for breakfast.
After lunch, you will continue your day with an afternoon game drive in one of the Greater Kruger Area Private Game Reserves. The late afternoon hours are productive times for game viewing as the day begins to cool, ensuring further animal movement. Watch as a massive, lumbering hippo emerges from the water to snack on nearby grasses. Observe the predators begin their nightly hunt as grazers peacefully occupy the plains. You will be out on the reserve for a few hours before returning to the lodge to refresh before dinner.
One of the more fruitful opportunities to enjoy game viewing is first thing in the morning before the heat of the day takes effect. The Greater Kruger Area is home to the fastest mammal on earth – the Cheetah. Cheetahs are solitary animals that hunt for food early in the morning, late in the afternoon and even at night under a full moon. After a few hours of early morning game viewing, you will head back to your lodge for breakfast.
The night drives allow you the chance to see the nocturnal animals not encountered during the day. You'll share the drives with other guests from the lodge. The night drives are part of the afternoon game drive, as dusk falls. Your possibilities of seeing a leopard, in particular, are a lot higher at night and with a bit of luck, you might even encounter the predators such as lion and leopard hunting.
During the evening drives, your tracker uses a powerful spotlight to search for nocturnal animals. Expect to see a wide variety of animals not typically seen during the day, including leopards, hyenas, aardvarks, bat-eared fox, porcupines, bush babies, bushbucks, mongoose, genet cats and nocturnal birds like owls and nightjars.
