Baga and Bairrada Sparkling Wine Tour With Traditional Lunch and Tasting Pastries
Our day begins at Porto. We start moving South, towards the Bairrada region, famous for its gastronomy but also increasingly by the fantastic wines it produces with its characteristic variety: Baga. With this are produced sparkling huge fineness and high creaminess, as well as red wines of dark and concentrated aroma color.
With this, the sparkling wines produced here are of huge finesse and high creaminess, as well as red wines of dark color and concentrated aroma.
The first stop will be in Aveiro. Here we will take a walk around the city famous for its canals and typical boats, but also for Art Noveau and local pastries. Now we will taste the most typical sweet from Aveiro, the soft eggs. This is a real gift from the Nuns to the World!
We move on to the heart of the Bairrada region, where we will find the Aliança Underground Museum. We will visit the underground tunnels where all the art is stored and taste three awarded sparkling wines.
It's time to taste the typical Bairrada delicacy - Bairrada Roasted Suckling Pig! For this, we will go to Mealhada, the Mecca of the suckling pig in Portugal. This is a unique opportunity to taste this dish at the most famous spot in the country! (if you don’t like the sound of this, we can provide a different main dish).
To end our day we will visit the cellar owned by the Man that personifies the Bairrada - Luis Pato! Here we will visit his winery and taste the delicious nectars to which he has already accustomed us.

I didn't know what to expect as I booked the trip last minute but by far from all of my tours taken in Portugal they knocked it out of the park by miles. We drove to the museum/winery where I was amazed by how much history is stored and taken care of in the building - the sparkling wine is good but I am a port girl the museum is amazing and the tour so informative.
Then off to lunch another awesome experience the round building an architectural hidden treasure the meal of steak and pineapple along with more wine was refreshing and filling. Back in the car after a winery tour to see the river and the ocean if it is cold in Porto it will be colder here so prepare. Then to the boat ride - take a jacket and blanket and enjoy the view from the water.
The taste of the special sweet after the ride was a nice touch and seeing the actual salt piles was so much fun! I had an amazing day and can't thank Jorge enough!!
