Lisbon Downtown, Tagus and Belém - Bike Tour
On this tour, we leave from the Center of Lisbon and we go always along the Tagus River to the historical area of Belém. A route with many points of interest.
Belém is where the Tagus ends, the river which bathes the city and crosses Portugal.
This is where the sea begins and for this reason, it was, for hundreds of years, a port of enormous importance for the city of Lisbon. It was from here that the caravels that discovered, among many other routes, the sea route to India (1498) and to Brazil (1500), a glorious time of the History of Portugal, departed for their adventures and here that they came back.
To evoke these achievements and this time, various monuments such as the famous Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Jerónimos Monastery have been built since then, many other points of interest (Monuments, Museums, Palaces), which makes the whole area of Belém a must visit.
But if this whole area is indeed very beautiful, the route between the city centre and Belém, about 10 km, with the river on one side and Lisbon on the other, is something that deserves to be seen and that should be enjoyed.
The best way to do this is by bicycle, because it allows us to pass through places where the cars do not have access, to ride in our rhythm, to see everything with tranquility and to stop whenever suits us, to take a closer look at some point of interest, to take a selfie, to drink a soda or a beer.
That’s why we suggest you join us and bike this fantastic ride!
